Penrose Holiday Park - Marathon

Steve and Jon will now be running together giving each other support along the way (literally!!!). 

Jon's application took a little longer to come through than Steves but confirmation has now been received that both of them will be running in aid of Whizz-Kids.

Training 

Training started just after Christmas, but what with the snow, sleet and ice on the roads progress was slow to say the least.  Now the weather is back on track (its freezing and throwing it down right now!) so is the training.  However, both are finding the beautiful rolling Cornish countryside somewhat of a challenge with there being hardly any flat roads. 
So they are off to the Camel Trail this weekend to run 11 1/4 miles on the flat from Padstow to Bodmin.  Watch this space for updates on how that goes and pictures from along the way.

Fundraising so far

Penrose Holiday Park, the family business, has donated £200.00.

Steve, Jon, Heather and Jen have been brainstorming for fundraising ideas, and have quite a lot to follow up on now.

The local paper will be doing an article for the lads at the charity car wash we will be holding soon.  The Bolingey (local pub) will be holding a curry & quiz night in March, and the local nursery Rosie Cheeks and Goonhavern pre-school have both agreed to help raise funds.  All our much valued customers have had a request from us, as have all our suppliers and other business associates, and friends old and new.  This is just for starters....we got lots more up our sleeves!   As soon as we get the dates confirmed for each event we will let you all know.

Steve Says: ‘As a parent we feel blessed that we have a healthy happy 2 and a half year old boy and another baby due in June.  We know that when your child is born it takes over your world in the most amazing way and all you want for them is the best start in life.  Every child deserves the very best start in life and if I can help make a difference to just one child with a disability that would make my year!’

Jon Says: ‘I’ve always wanted to run the marathon and Whizz Kidz is a great charity, I hope we raise at least of our target, everyone who knows us needs to donate to help us reach that goal.  To exceed our target would be fantastic!

Why Whizz-Kidz

Whizz Kids is virtually 100% reliant on voluntary funds so they really need your donations.  This amazing charity is all about giving disabled children the best chance of living an independent life.  They are dedicated in meeting the individual child’s mobility needs to ensure they receive the right mobility equipment, advice and training when they need it.
